#Pickoftheweek: Century City Sports Festival (2 – 5 March)

From Thursday, 2 to Sunday, 5 March 2017, Central Park at Century City will be overtaken by athletes of all disciplines. You can choose between a 10-km run, a 2.5-km fun run/walk, dad and kids cricket, fives futbol and touch rugby. There will also be a cycling event, affectionately known as the kermesse, a dragon boat race, canoe races, stand-up paddleboarding, SNAG golf, and plenty of kiddies activities to keep the little ones entertained.

2. Hot Water Live at De Waal Park (5 March)
Local legends Hot Water are back from their recent tour of India, and they’re heading to De Waal Park for a free concert this weekend. Concerts in the Park are a free initiative aimed at putting the groove back into the city and making sure that there is free fun for the whole family. Dance along to Wamkelekile, Skollie, Tribal Man, Lekker Sakkie and make sure to bring your fluffy pets with you!

3.  Paarl Ommiberg Round the Rock Festival (4 March)
The annual harvest wine fiesta is back in Paarl for another year of grape stomping fun! You’ll be able to grab something delicious to accompany the stunning wines, all the while listening to local artists under the Cape Town summer sun.

You’ll be treated to industry experts, a rolling exhibition, classic bikes on show, food to be enjoyed, merchandise to be purchased and plenty of fun to be had! There will also be a selection of bike customisation brands there, so if you’re feeling like a design change is in order, chat to them and get creative.

6. Diskotekah Vogue Afrika (4 March)
Trust us, you’ve never been to a party like this before. The organisers of Diskotekah are experts at fusing art, fashion and techno music to create a sensual experience that you will never forget. Their themed bashes draw diverse crowds from all over the Mother City, and this time their theme is ‘Vogue Afrika’. Think high fashion meets tribal, go crazy with bold prints and outrageous accessories. Diskotekah is going down at Deuce Bar, and they’ve even secured The Frown to perform!

7. Love and Light Trance Party (4 March)
Short and sweet it may be, but Love and Light is one of the most popular events in the Mother City’s trance calendar. On Saturday, 4 March 2017 Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate in Paarl is being turned into a 24-hour trance hotspot complete with an all star line-up; Ace Ventura, Rocky Tilbor, Animato and Easy Riders. The jol starts at 11am, and the party don’t stop until midnight so make sure you pack some comfy shoes, because this is going to be epic.
