Cape Peninsula Fire 11 January 2017

The Cape Peninsula was in flames after a small fire which started near Kommetjie Road in Ocean View quickly spread towards Simon’s Town. Conditions were favorable for wild fire and challenged firefighters throughout the day. Strong efforts were put in by many fire organizations including small community and volunteer groups. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, but it is important for us all to be vigilant over the course of the next few weeks. We have seen 3 extremely large fires in the past 10 days and need to be more fire conscious.

A special thank you to the NCC Environmental Services for supplying my protective clothing.
