DID YOU KNOW?
That the name “False Bay” is almost 300 years old 🤯 and was applied by sailors returning from the east who confused Cape Point and Cape Hangklip, which are somewhat similar in form 😮
But, there’s no confusion to where home is for the many endemic marine species 🐟🦈🐠🦦🦀🦐🐌🦋 that are found only in False Bay.
Due to the bay’s wide continental shelf that extends up to 240 km offshore on the Agulhas Bank, it is an ecoregion with the highest number of South African endemics 📍, and is a breeding area for many species 🍼🐋🐬🦈🐟🌊.
